My journey with PCOS

STORY TIME:

It was June of 2018 when we're planning to have a second child, I stopped using pills and then came 3 months PT was still negative, dumami ang pimples ko sa chin part and I'm still gaining weight kahit regular ang exercise routine ko. Ayun na, we go to our OBgyne. I had my TVS, blood test, and pap smear. All test came normal pero yung sa TVS they found out na both of my ovaries has PCOS. The doctor said to have an active lifestyle, eat healthily and exercise regularly.
Early signs ng PCOS are irregular periods or no periods at all pero may iba na regular ang menstruation. Difficult of getting pregnant and failure to ovulate. Excessive hair growth, example is yung nagkakaroon ka bigla ng bigote. Weight gain, ito madaming dumanas ng gantong symptoms. Oily skin and pimples, lalo na sa bandang baba.

I started a low carb diet and 15 to 20 minutes cardio and core exercise every day. I switch to brown rice from white rice for 2 months and to black from brown rice to no rice at all. My weight before I started this routine was 100 kilos. Yes, 100 kilos! Nakakaloka diba? HAHAHA. Now I'm 88 kilos and currently on Intermittent Fasting 16/8 or IF. Feeding time is 8 hours and 16 hours for fasting. I start eating by 10 AM to 6 PM or 1 PM to 9 PM. For 5 months I just lost 12 kilos, yes mabagal kasi hindi madali magpapayat kapag may PCOS ka. Ang dahilan kung bakit eh dahil ang iyong insulin levels are constantly high sabayan pa ng pagtaas ng androgens levels mo at slow thyroid na dahilan ng pagbagal ng metabolism mo.

Ang advice ko lang na pinaka-magandang routine na gawin niyo ay ang low carb eating, cardio and core exercise, bakit may kasamang core? kasi karamihan sa may mga PCOS nagiging pear-shaped yung tummy part o nagmumukhang buntis kahit hindi naman. And try niyo din ang Intermittent fasting while doing that routine.

Para naman sa mga taong kapag nakakita ng mga matataba please lang wag niyo naman sabihan na napabayaan na sa kusina, ang lakas mo ata kumain, kakain ka nanaman. Bes, yung iba ginugutom na sarili nila para pumayat lang. Sa mga hindi pa nagkakaanak at matagal nang trying to conceive wag din naman natin sabihan na naunahan ka na ni ano, kelan ka pa ba magkakaroon?, si ano ilan na anak ikaw wala pa, wala ka pa din bang anak si ano ilan na, baog ka ba. Huwag po sana tayo maging insensitive kasi mamaya pala may underlying condition bakit ganoon.
Hanggang ngayon, wala pa ding gamot sa PCOS at ano ang root cause kung bakit nagkakaroon nito pero maging determinado tayo ito and maging positive sa lahat ng bagay. Baby dust to all!

ANO BA ANG PCOS?

ANO NGA BA ANG POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN SYNDROME O MAS KILALA SA TINATAWAG NA PCOS?


Ang Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome o PCOS ay isang hormonal disorder o imbalance na nararanasan ng maraming kababaihan na nireregla at mga pwedeng mabuntis. Nagkakaroon ang kababaihan ng maliliit na cyst sa obaryo. Ang mga cysts na ito ay naglalaman ng immature egg cells o hindi pa mga nahihinog na itlog na walang kakayahang magproseso ng ovulation. Hanggang ngayon hindi pa din nalalaman kung ano ang sanhi, saan, paano o dahilan ng pagkakaroon ng pcos. Maari itong mamana o mapasa sa genes, posible din ang insuline resistance, kapag maraming insulin ang babae sa katawan ito ay magpapataas ng androgen production kaya nahihirapan mag-ovulate ang obaryo.

MGA SINTOMAS:


  • Irregular periods o hindi pagkakaroon ng buwanang dalaw at abnormal heavy periods - Kadalasan ito ang unang sintomas ng mga hinihinalang may pcos. Ito ay hindi pagkakaroon ng buwanang dalaw, minsan umaabot ng 3 months to 1 year. Meron din naman na regular ang dalaw pero may pcos.
  • High level of androgens or excess androgens - Ang epekto nito ay pagkakaroon ng oily face, tigyawat, pimples or acne sa katawan, sa mukha at lalo na sa bandang baba.
  • Excess Hair Growth - ito ay pagkakaroon ng unwanted male pattern hair growth sa babae katulad ng bigote, mukha at katawan na normally wala naman..
  • Pagtaas ng timbang o pagiging overweight o obese - Lumalaking tiyan na nagiging pear shaped o napaghihinalaang buntis pero hindi lahat nakakaranas nito dahil may mga tamang timbang o slim din na mga babae na merong pcos.
  • Headache at Mood swing - dahil naman ito sa hormone changes.
KOMPLIKASYON:
  • Infertility o hirap makabuo dahil sa hindi tamang ovulation process ng obaryo.
  • Miscarriage  o premature birth.
  • Gestational diabetes o pregnancy-induced high blood pressure.
  • Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis o sever liver inflammation dahil sa taba na naiipon sa liver.
  • Metabolic syndrome o pagkakaroon ng high blood sugar, abnormal cholesterol levels, high blood pressure at mataas ng risk nang atake sa puso.
  • Type 2 diabetes o prediabetes.
  • Sleep apnea o paghilik ng malakas at feeling na lagi kang pagod at antok na antok kahit nakapahinga ka ng maayos.
  • Depression, Anxiety at eating disorder.
  • Abnormal uterine bleeding.
  • Cancer of the uterine lining o endometrial cancer o mas kilala sa tawag na cancer sa matris. Ito ay may pelvic pain o mababang tiyan, maskit na pakikipagtalik.

Easy Puto Cheese Recipe

Puto Cheese


Ingredients:

2 Cups APF/ All Purpose Flour
1 Cup Sugar
2 Tbsp Baking Powder
1 1/2 Milk/water
1 Pack Bear Brand Swak
Cheese Slices for toppings

Procedure:
  1. Mix all the dry ingredients.
  2. Add the milk or water. Mix it well until all powder is dissolved. 
  3. Pour it in the molder and steam for 10-15 mins.
How to know if it's cooked already? Get a new toothpick and stick it onto the puto and if it comes out with nothing it's already cooked.

Easy Pork Barbeque Recipe

Pork Barbeque Pinoy Style


Ingredients:

1-kilo pork1 head garlic, minced1 onion, minced1 tsp ground black pepper3 tbsp brown sugar1 cup soy sauce1/4 cup calamansi juice or lemon jiuce1/2 cup banana ketchup or tomato ketchup1/2 cup spriteBamboo skewers

Procedure:

  1. Cut pork meat into thin and long slices.
  2.  In a mixing bowl, combine all ingredients and marinate for at least 30mins., for best result marinade for the whole night.
  3. After marinating, string the pork and grill.
  4. Use a basting brush with marinade to the pork while grilling to make it saucy or moisten the meat.
